World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) (18-24th of November) aims to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance and to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.

 

In this episode Dr Bahijja Raimi-Abraham discusses antimicrobial awareness, antimicrobial resistance, microbial diagnostics and infection with Dr Tina Joshi (bio. below), Lecturer in Molecular Microbiology at the University of Plymouth.

Biography - Dr Tina Joshi

​

Dr Tina Joshi is a Lecturer in Molecular Microbiology at the University of Plymouth. She teaches and researches in Clinical Microbiology, with an emphasis on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Infection control.

 

Tina is passionate about promoting science to the public and to her students. To this end, she is part of the Antibiotic Research UK Science Committee, Microbiology Society Impact and Influence Committee and is an expert media commentator in AMR/Infection Control.

 

This year, in 2020, Tina has been nominated as "Most Innovative Teacher of the Year" in the Times Higher Education Awards, the "Oscars for Higher Education".
